Local Notifications (iOS 4 + iOS 5)
Since version 2.3 of HappyDayz! the Local Notifications (iOS 4 or greater) are used to inform you about your events without running the App. If you have a device with iOS 3, the Push Notifications (see below) are still used to send the notifications.
Push Notifications (iOS 3)
Since version 2.0 of HappyDayz! and iOS3 you can receive notifications about todays and upcoming events without starting HappyDayz!.
This is done by using the Push Notification Service from Apple. Sending those notifications, which can be a text message (Alert), updating the badge or playing a sound is done by the HappyDayz! Server. This server checks your data and sends the notifications to your iPhone or iPod touch by using the Push Notification Servers from Apple.
The HappyDayz! Server needs only your dates and some other data like your device token, timezone, language and the notification settings to check your data for todays and upcoming events and to send the notifications.
The dates are synchronized without the corresponding names or other data like phone numbers, addresses, etc. to keep the privacy of your contacts! Your name is also not synchronized!

Synchronization
To receive the notifications you have to synchronize your events with the HappyDayz! Server. You can synchronize it manually by pressing the „Manual Synchronization“-button or automatically when enabled in the Settings.
Requirements
- iPhone™, iPhone™ 3G or iPhone™ 3G S. iPod™ touch not fully supported due to Apple's limitations.
- Internet connection (GPRS, EDGE, 3G or WiFi); Apple Push Notification service requires an internet connection to work properly. HappyDayz! uses very little of bandwidth, but it can't deliver the reminder if the user is out of signal range or does not have internet connection available.
