Steps to create a theme for Mr. Reader

  1. Duplicate an existing theme
    Open the settings of Mr. Reader and tap and hold the theme preview image you wan't to use as a template. Choose 'Duplicate'. The copy gets selected automatically.
  2. Start the Theme Editor
    Tap and hold the settings icon and select 'Start Theme Editor'. You will see the url where you can reach your Theme Editor.
  3. Open the Theme Editor
    Open your desktop web browser (Mac, Windows, Linux) and open the url shown in step 2 like "http://xx.xx.xx.xx:8881".
  4. Create your theme
    You'll see your changes immediately in Mr. Reader.

Attention: The Theme Editor works always on the theme currently active in Mr. Reader. When you are done with your theme, please stop the Theme Editor: tap and hold the settings icon and select 'Stop Theme Editor'.

You have created a great theme?

Then please send it to mrreader-app@curioustimes.de and i'll add it to Themes page. Or you can send it to other Mr. Reader users. Open the Mr. Reader settings and use tap and hold on your theme to open the actions menu to send it by mail. The mail recipient can install your theme immediately by tapping on the attachment.

Download image and icon templates (Photoshop v12.1 or higher required)

You don't have to use this templates to create a theme, but it will simplify the creation of your custom images and icons.

  • please optimize your PNG's before uploading them, there are some tools like ImageOptim (Mac) and PngOptimizer (Windows) that will do it for you
